Selected from manuscripts included in Rogers’s papers, which have been gifted by her to the New-York Historical Society, the contents of this book consist of portraitures of some of the city’s most admired and popular landscapes. Divided into three parts, it is a study of its rich original endowment by nature; a vicarious tour of some significant parts its 520-mile shoreline of riverfronts, bays, and ocean coast; and a design history of certain notable green spaces within its urban confines.
